The conception, production and completion of this album has spanned four years and crossed three countries. I began to write the music for this album while teaching in South India, and between stints of habitation in Brooklyn, NY, I now find myself living and teaching music in South Korea. So many people from all over the globe have put a lot of time and effort into this project. I would like to acknowledge some of the many people who have helped me in seeing this project through.
Thanks to:
Michael Perez-Cisneros for your masterful guidance, stoic patience, unending humor and overall resilience over a year and a half of recording, mixing, and mastering; and to Simen Solvang, Peter Jensen and Danny Jung for your expert assistance behind the soundboard.
My dear bandmates Maya, Josh, Mike and Conor for bringing this music to life in the studio and on stage.
Lilan Kane, Sunny Kim, Dregas, Leanne Kelly, Erin Greenwell, Stevie Greenwell, and Evangeline Reilly, my brilliant artist friends, who counsel, support, and hold hands in solidarity through the trials of self-producing an original music album.
Ellen Ercolini, for the many years of coaching me through various professional decisions, for always believing in my voice and my abilities, and for inspiring me to do the same.
My Seoul mates Sean Pentland, Paul Kirby, and Manuel Weyand, for travelling Asia and Europe on tour with me to support this album.
Sung Hyon Sohn, Ricky Kelley (music videographer), Kio Griffith and Jiyoung Ryu for contributing their talents to the visual aspects of the project.
My sister Catherine John, who has generously served as booking agent, tour manager, publicist, merch girl, backup vocalist and instrumentalist, photographer, cultural liaison and so much more through several incarnations of my band over the years.
Lastly, thanks to my parents, George and Carolyn John, who through it all are proud to call me their kid.
